Richard Challoner School

65th Anniversary Ball

Richard Challoner School marked its milestone anniversary on 12th October with a vibrant Black-Tie Ball.

Around 250 current and former staff, parents and friends of the school came together for a stunning evening of fun and entertainment. The celebration provided the opportunity to reunite, as well as create new memories for the future school community.

The entire event was organised with great attention to detail by Niki Mason, Fran Henry, Steph Harvey, Sean Maher and a core group from the PTFA. The school’s superb facilities were decorated by JK Blossom Events with impactful black and gold backdrops, a sequinned wall, an illuminated ‘65’ and stunning balloons. Guests commented on the total transformation of the halls. Display boards showcased a timeline of the school’s significant milestones over the six decades.

Ex-student, Matt de Jose, serenaded those having pre-dinner drinks on the Mezzanine Lounge with his guitar and great voice. Graffiti Classics, an all-singing, all-dancing String Quartet, provided an exhilarating and unique musical comedy cabaret show on the stage.

Guests were treated to a tasty four-course meal provided by Gourmet Events, and a fully stocked bar catered for a wide variety of tipples. Many guests were mesmerised by Theo Theodoris the Magician as he performed an array of astonishing tricks at each table. The disco sounds provided by Dominic Yearsley brought everybody together on the dance floor, dancing right into the night.

The evening included a heartfelt speech from the school’s Head, Sean Maher, sharing special memories and hopes for the future. Reflecting on the special event, Sean Maher, said:
“Due to the Covid Pandemic, we were unable to hold our planned 60th Anniversary dinner, so it was extra special to have an event for our 65th Anniversary and it was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and give thanks for all that the school has done to serve local Catholic families over the last 65 years”.
